This unique position is to become a member of a highly tactical team that will be responsible for traveling on location domestically and executing your assigned project over a 2 to 3 week period. The position will require a minimum of 85% travel which will include nights & weekends. Some PM roles will provide you the opportunity to continue to reside on location for extend periods of time which could last as long as one year.
You will be responsible for planning and managing tactical projects that are of high levels of complexity, short and limited timeframes to complete and that include up to 50 projects participates.
Experience as listed below is critical to meeting the requirements for the role, core knowledge in the banking and financial services business is an absolute requirement.
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience working with "core banking systems", working in a IT, Project Manager or Bank/Branch management position; OR experience with Banking Conversion projects OR in a similar role in the Financial Services industry that provided you with insight in to how banking IT systems function.
- Candidates must be PMP certified or actively pursuing project management certification.
- Considerable knowledge and experience utilizing various types of IT projects. (e.g., conversions, client/server, main frame, AS400, telecom, call center systems, banking systems, etc.)
- Extensive knowledge and skill in project management standards, processes, procedures and guidelines, and recommends improvements to realize efficiencies
- Considerable knowledge and experience using the industry project management best practices (i.e., Project Management Body of Knowledge - PMBOK)
- Considerable knowledge of communications/escalation management
- Considerable knowledge of the risk and issues management process and techniques, including risk identification, quantification, and risk response (e.g., acceptance, mitigation, avoidance, risk response control)
- Considerable knowledge of standards relevant to the software industry (e.g., ISO, CMM, Six Sigma)
- Advanced skill in the use of project management software to manage projects (e.g., MS Project and auxiliary tools, such as Share Point, including risk, issues and action items database, Metrics and Control)
- Considerable experience working in a highly stressful environment and meeting deadlines that can not deviate.
- Ability to travel 85% of the time and work nights and weekend when necessary.
- Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university in a related discipline
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Manages project execution and facilitation of deliverables as defined by a predefined process.
- Reviews plans to determine costs, timeline, funding, staffing requirements and goals.
- Develops project plans outlining project scope, activities, schedules, deadlines and cost/time estimates.
- Conducts informational and decision-seeking meetings and conference calls to technical, business and vendor organizations.
- Acts as the Point of Contact (POC) for all project related activities.
- Manages project risks, issues/problems, and activity progress to ensure project goals (e.g., deadline, scope and quality) are achieved. Assists with problem resolution or risk mitigation as needed.
- Coordinates activities and tasks among project team members, other internal departments and vendor organizations as needed to meet project goals.
- Seeks and develops more productive and effective ways to complete assigned tasks.
- Conducts project transition and/or closure activities to formalize and communicate the project acceptance, handover ongoing activities to accountable teams and complete a post implementation review to identify areas of improvement or that worked well.
